[00:00:00] Speaker A: More music, Better mental health. Only on IPL radio. There we go. A little bit of two minutes of 12 of Happy Jack with a who. I have Davina. Davina and Lucana. Lucana. Lucana. So they try to put those names to sort of throw me. So, guys, we talked a little bit about music, as we always do. And you liked Elbow and Lucana was sort of. She was a bit like me in that regard. You gave everything from I can listen to, like, Frank Sinatra and then I can listen to Sam Flanders. Or I say that because he's Sam Fender. Because he's sort of modern. Ish. Or Miley Cyrus. Oh, I sort of go in between. So, guys, guys, guys, guys, guys. The reason for today's interview is we've [00:00:56] Speaker B: got the Mind the Walk event coming up that's run by the Rotary Clubs of Rockingham, Palm beach and Bel Divis. [00:01:04] Speaker A: Oh, wow. [00:01:05] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:01:05] Speaker A: I didn't know there was a Rotary Club in Beldivis. There you go. [00:01:09] Speaker B: Yes. Yep. [00:01:10] Speaker A: Wow. So, pardon. [00:01:12] Speaker C: Small club. [00:01:13] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:01:13] Speaker A: Oh, is it? [00:01:14] Speaker C: Yeah, growing. [00:01:15] Speaker A: Are you a member of. [00:01:16] Speaker C: I was, yeah. [00:01:17] Speaker A: Was, yeah. So ex member. You didn't get suspended, did you? Didn't sort of blacklist? [00:01:22] Speaker C: No, it was. No, no, no. It was a medical leave situation. [00:01:26] Speaker A: Oh, really? Yeah, I didn't want to go. [00:01:30] Speaker C: Don't go there. [00:01:32] Speaker A: So when is it? [00:01:34] Speaker B: It's Sunday 1st November, so a week and a half away. [00:01:38] Speaker A: Geez, that's not far, is it? [00:01:39] Speaker B: No, not at all. [00:01:41] Speaker A: And give me some details about it, where it is, what it involves, how we can get involved. All of these above. [00:01:51] Speaker B: Okay, so it's a mental health awareness walk and we're. This year we've secured Australia Post grant for it. [00:01:59] Speaker A: Wow. [00:02:00] Speaker B: So that the walks are free and we have three different types of walks. There's a history walk, a maritime history walk and a cultural walk. [00:02:12] Speaker C: Wow. [00:02:12] Speaker B: Which is led by Stephen Jacobs from In Culture Tours. [00:02:16] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:02:16] Speaker B: And he'll be taking us through the. The cultural history. [00:02:21] Speaker A: So they all run at the same time, do they? [00:02:23] Speaker B: No. So the. There's varying times. The first one starts at 8:30. The last one, at the moment it's 10:30. If we get more of them, we can add more. [00:02:35] Speaker A: Okay, so which one? So at the moment they're different staggered times. [00:02:39] Speaker B: Yes. [00:02:40] Speaker A: So who goes where? [00:02:41] Speaker B: Like, so the first one's a history tour, and then I think the next one's a maritime walk. Then there's a cultural walk, then there's another history walk. Wow. So, yeah. And. [00:02:58] Speaker C: And a scavenger hunt in between. [00:02:59] Speaker B: It all yes. [00:03:00] Speaker A: Wow. So how far the walks? [00:03:04] Speaker B: 2.8 kilometers. [00:03:07] Speaker A: Really? [00:03:07] Speaker B: Yeah. It's. [00:03:08] Speaker A: That's like, where's my maths? Terrible. That's probably about 40 minutes, depending. 30, 40 minutes. [00:03:15] Speaker B: Yeah. With stops along the way. So it will be a little bit longer on that because we will be discussing the history of various areas. [00:03:21] Speaker A: And they're all the same. Are they all the same distance? [00:03:25] Speaker C: Approximately, yes. [00:03:26] Speaker A: Yep. Okay. So which have you done? Have you done all of them? Have you done the. The. The history, the cultural and the maritime one? [00:03:37] Speaker B: I haven't done the maritime one, but I know about the cultural one. I've done that one. And we've been running Mind the Walk for six. This is the sixth year. [00:03:47] Speaker A: It's really oxymoron. Running a walk. [00:03:49] Speaker B: Yeah, that's true. True. Well, what adds to. We've got cycling on without age on board, and anybody with a disability is able to still participate in the walk by being taken around on. On the cycle. [00:04:07] Speaker A: Oh, is that the one that runs on the foreshore? [00:04:10] Speaker B: Yes, yes. [00:04:11] Speaker A: Where people volunteer to take people generally. Well, not only. But disabilities are older. They can go in that. Oh, so would it be going along the foreshore? These walks are. [00:04:24] Speaker B: Yes, yes, yes. [00:04:26] Speaker A: Oh, and so what. Why did you get involved? And why did you get involved? [00:04:33] Speaker B: Well, it started actually, because Lucala was president of Valdivis Rotary, and I was in Valdivis Rotary, and she put me in charge of mental health section, and I started looking into the Rotary health walks. But all the money that was raised from that went into a national thing, which is great for research and stuff, but I wanted something that could be local. [00:05:01] Speaker A: Yeah. Which is. It's a great idea, really. And that's the whole thing, isn't it? I mean, everybody want. No, everybody. Like, it's great to have national, but it's good if you can sort of squeeze it down to local participation. [00:05:15] Speaker B: That's correct. Yeah. And because I live closer to Rockingham, I actually changed to the Rockingham Rotary. [00:05:21] Speaker A: I say you're. Oh, a defector then. [00:05:25] Speaker B: Yeah. So, yeah. So we. We've been able to create, you know, this. This walk on a larger scale. And, you know, and with. In collaboration with the other Rotary clubs, y. So that we're all three. So it's not just a, you know, oh, Rockingham Rotary. It's. It's all three. So it's Rockingham, Palm beach and. And Bell divers. [00:05:49] Speaker A: I was saying on a sort of. Before we get back to the subject, I was saying to somebody during the week, there's so many Things that are happening alike. This will be a perfect example of something which is happening and people don't know it's happening. [00:06:06] Speaker B: Correct. [00:06:07] Speaker A: There was. I forget what festival it was that one narrative. I get it wrong. [00:06:12] Speaker B: Narragaba. [00:06:13] Speaker A: Now, that was on last week. I went last year and it was absolutely brilliant. And I thought, oh, I'll go to the next one. And it was last Saturday, but I never knew it was on. And that is the. The killer with all so many things [00:06:29] Speaker C: in Rockingham, you know, this year we're setting up next to the second Sunday markets, so we're hoping for a bit more foot traffic as well and it'll be a bit more visible. [00:06:39] Speaker A: Yeah. And you anticipate many people participate? Participating? Do you? Do you anticipate many people? [00:06:47] Speaker C: Yeah, there's a lot of people interested, a lot of bookings. All of the speakers have agreed to do a second walk because we think we're going to need them. [00:06:53] Speaker A: Oh, seriously? [00:06:54] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:06:55] Speaker A: So people can book? [00:06:56] Speaker C: Yes, yes. So you can book. It's on the Sunday 1st November, 8am till 2pm it's at the waterfront village green in Rockingham, just next to the Sunday Rotary markets. And there's a Facebook page where you can book a link. Even though it's free, we still are asking people to book so we can manage the numbers, you know, organize the. The. The speakers and the walkers, the guides, I suppose, to do additional walks. But it's more than that. There's activities. It's a festival. We're going to have marquee set up with. There's wildlife and animal experiences, games and activities. We've got a cricket club coming and doing a show. We've got yoga, community boot camp. [00:07:34] Speaker A: Wow. [00:07:35] Speaker C: Yeah. Health and wellness activities, all sorts. Dancing with swing. Come and have a dance. So, yeah, there's a lot going on, so it'd be a good community event. [00:07:44] Speaker A: So. So where were these, like you say, this. Cricket. There's yoga. And where will they be taking place? [00:07:53] Speaker C: On the village green. [00:07:55] Speaker A: On the village green. So. [00:07:56] Speaker C: So we've had. Yeah, this. We've. We've hired, you know, we've secured and approved for the space next to the Rockingham Sunday Rotary markets. Oh, near the Gary Holland building. [00:08:07] Speaker A: Oh, yes. [00:08:07] Speaker C: You know, where they do the orcas, the orchestra. [00:08:09] Speaker A: Oh, right. The actual. [00:08:11] Speaker C: On the green. Yeah. [00:08:12] Speaker A: Oh, right. Now I'm with you. Where the. The gun is or the cannon is there. [00:08:16] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:08:16] Speaker A: Yep, yep, I'll Gotcha. All right. So that'll be going sort of all day. I mean, well, basically, yeah. [00:08:22] Speaker C: Eight till two. [00:08:23] Speaker A: Wow. So you can just rock on down there and. [00:08:26] Speaker C: Yep, all free. There'll be prizes, chocolate wheel giveaways, you know. [00:08:30] Speaker A: Oh, it's just. Oh, it's so frustrating, you see, I would like to go to that, but I wouldn't have known. [00:08:37] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:08:37] Speaker A: Unless you guys came in and it's so frustrating, you know. So why did you get involved in the whole. The thing of doing this, Lucana? [00:08:49] Speaker C: Well, I suppose I got involved with Rotary because it's, you know, what gives me joy is my well being is being of service and helping other people. So, you know, Rotary was a really good place to be able to do that, a great forum for it. And then with mental health, you know, I really loved what Davina was doing and I'm really passionate about it myself because in one way or another it affects all of us and, you know, trying to remove. Raise some awareness and remove some of that stigma where people don't want to talk about it or don't know where to go. I love what Davina's done with this event and the fact that there's all these people. I mean, we've got people from Anglicare, Alcoholics Anonymous, we've got Art People, Black Dog Ride, we've got Shelter Box, we've got Connections wa, Greyhound Adoptions, Headspace, Helping Minds in Culture Tours, Marine Rescue, Medical Shed, Safer Life, you know, heaps of opportunities for people to come and chat to, you know, people who might need it. And this is why we want to raise the awareness and get it out there, because there's so many people out there who may benefit. [00:09:54] Speaker A: Yes. [00:09:54] Speaker C: From these facilities. So. [00:09:57] Speaker A: So if, if I get this right, and so you can you go down to the village green and that's where you can register or go for your walk. Is that. Is that correct? [00:10:07] Speaker B: You can register on the day, providing there's positions available, but you can go to the Facebook page and, you know, book on for the walks there if you're not keen on the. Any of the walks and just coming down and. And being part of it. Because, you know, as we say, we've got the yoga on at 10 o', clock, we've got the boot camp on at 9 o', clock, we've got simply swing performing through most of the time and. And then there's games to play, like Jenga and. And there's a mental health Snakes and Ladders one which is brilliant. It's. [00:10:51] Speaker A: And, you know, this is. It's no charge for people. [00:10:54] Speaker B: No, no, it's a brilliant. [00:10:56] Speaker A: It's A brilliant sort of thing, isn't it? Because I saying go to the market and then go. But you know, it's next door to the market. So a lot of those people who go to the market could quite easily flip to where you are. [00:11:08] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:11:09] Speaker A: And have a look around. So have you got like, you. Have you got. What do they call them? Stalls? [00:11:15] Speaker C: Yeah, there'll be marquees set up. All the stalls will be set up. Yeah, we'll be, we'll be there from 6am setting up. [00:11:22] Speaker A: Geez. It's. I'm just thinking for these things, guys like it must be. It must take a hell of a lot of organization. [00:11:31] Speaker C: Oh yeah. [00:11:31] Speaker B: Oh yeah. Yeah. We start, we start as soon as we finish one the. The next February. So it's on in November each year. The next February. We're already starting to plan the next one. So it takes a while. [00:11:44] Speaker A: Wow. And you've obviously. You could tell by the look on both your faces that you obviously enjoy what, what you're doing. [00:11:51] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. You know, even just the process of doing it all is connecting. You know, we talk about, you know, act belong, commit and connecting and well being. You know, the fact that we're getting all of these businesses, organizations, people together, that's, that's, you know, an ethos for the event as well. So. [00:12:09] Speaker B: Yeah. And Rotary has the saying service above self and we're very much that. [00:12:16] Speaker A: Yeah, it's really great. I mean, you know, can you just. Because, you know, there was about 700. I counted 700 of what will be there. Yoga. No, I didn't. So can you just go through who will be there just to. So to re. Reiterate who you're gonna have as. [00:12:39] Speaker B: Yeah, so. [00:12:40] Speaker C: So we're going to have Australian Rotary Health Fair with a stall. Yeah. The Alcoholics Anonymous are going to be there. The Arbor Anglicare are going to be there. Atarax Art Black Dog Ride. We're going to have Shelter box there and the city of Rockingham are going to be there doing an act belong commit store. Then we're going to have Greyhound adoptions which, you know, everyone loves a dog. It's going to be beautiful along with the West Oz wildlife. So they'll have reptiles and koala there to come and you know, connect with. Yeah. Then we've got Headspace, Helping Minds. Oh yeah. Stephen Jacobs from IN Culture Tours, IPR Radio is going to. You guys are going to be there. Ipo. We're going to be there. [00:13:21] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:13:22] Speaker C: So Chris will be there and then we've got Marine Rescue, their team's going to be down there. The medical shed by the Rockingham Rotary. Safer life. Suicide prevention, Simply swing. And then we've got the cricket club, we've got yoga, the boot camp. So there's a lot going on. [00:13:39] Speaker A: There's a truckload going, isn't it? [00:13:41] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:13:42] Speaker A: So, not that. Is there any. Not that. I'm just asking a general question. Would there be like a sausage or something at. Or. That's. [00:13:51] Speaker B: No, food will be big. That was part of the terms from the city of Rockingham that we didn't provide a coffee because the coffee vans in the markets. [00:14:01] Speaker A: That's understandable because I know they've got a. Yeah, a rotary thing where they. I think. [00:14:07] Speaker B: Yeah, we've got the sausage sizzle in. [00:14:09] Speaker A: That's right, yeah. Yeah. You know, makes sense too. So, come on. Which. Which walk have you got yourself down for walks? Which one you're doing? [00:14:21] Speaker B: Well, I'm actually guiding one of the history walks. [00:14:23] Speaker A: Oh, [00:14:27] Speaker C: I did the history walk last year, so if I get time, I wouldn't mind doing the cultural walk, but we'll be pretty busy, so we'll see. [00:14:33] Speaker A: So what does. I think that's a good question. I'll just. Question. Come down. The cultural walk and the history walk, would they intertwine somewhat? Because the history and culture. You would think there's sort of like a match there somewhere. [00:14:53] Speaker C: Possibly. [00:14:54] Speaker B: Yeah. I think the cultural walk is more the indigenous aspect and they don't really touch too much on the history of colonial times. So whereas we're. The history walk will, you know, tell the history of, you know, the timber and. [00:15:17] Speaker A: Oh, I see what you mean. Yes. Which is sort of. Without being controversial. It would be good if they could both mold in together, where the people who did the history tour could bring in the people, people from the cultural side and say, well, yes, this is, you know. [00:15:39] Speaker B: Yes. Well, you're kind of getting that in a way, because you can actually do two walks if you want. [00:15:45] Speaker A: Well, that's also very true, isn't it? [00:15:47] Speaker B: You know, then you're. You're incorporating both of them anyway, so. [00:15:50] Speaker A: And there's so much history in your Rockingham, isn't there? [00:15:52] Speaker C: Oh, it's crazy. [00:15:53] Speaker B: Yes. [00:15:54] Speaker A: You know that. Is it catalpa. Have I got that right? [00:15:58] Speaker B: Yes. Yep. [00:15:59] Speaker A: That is an amazing story. And now that start to gather momentum and you're starting to get people in Perth. I start. Oh, you know, and he's starting to get a bit of a. A life of its own to a degree. And that's a Fascinating story in itself. [00:16:13] Speaker C: Yeah. We've got very knowledgeable guides there. [00:16:16] Speaker B: We do, they're great. Yeah, yeah. [00:16:19] Speaker A: And of course, I assume they'll be all volunteers as well. [00:16:22] Speaker B: They are, yes. [00:16:24] Speaker A: Oh, look, it's such a great thing, you know. You know, like you were talking about volunteering service above self. I mean, there's still. And that's a great thing, you know, a lot of that. Last week I had three, three, what I would call younger people come in and they were all about giving back. [00:16:45] Speaker B: Yes. [00:16:46] Speaker C: So good. [00:16:47] Speaker A: You know, and I find that people, sometimes I'm. Without trying to generalize, sometimes people forties to fifties are not as. Sometimes not as involved as the people I find in their twenties who are a lot more, you know, in this so called me, me, me generation. I find that there's so many young people who want. [00:17:11] Speaker C: That's good. Glad to hear that. [00:17:13] Speaker A: Oh, it's just tremendous. It really, you know, like as an old person, you see, you think, oh, yeah, yeah. But it's so good to hear the other side of it that there's people coming through, people who do want to help. Yeah. You know, so volunteering for you is seeing the enjoyment that people get out of it, etc. Yeah. [00:17:32] Speaker C: I don't know. Helping people gives me like a sense of joy, you know. [00:17:35] Speaker A: Yes. [00:17:36] Speaker C: Yeah, it does. So that's. Yeah, that's why I do. And being part of the, you know, Rotary and anything really and you know, family and all sorts of things and especially with the young people, it is impressive when young people, you know, want to give and want to connect. Yeah, yeah, I love it. And, and having these forums. Sometimes I think people want to do things. They want to give, they want to help, but there's. They don't know how. [00:17:59] Speaker A: That's exactly. [00:17:59] Speaker C: Having something like this and, and you know, things like associations or service clubs like Rotary can pull businesses in. You know, when you go to businesses and you talk about sponsorship and you know, most people go, oh yeah, I'd love to help, you know, whereas they just don't know. And people as well, oh, I want to get involved. How can I help? There's so many people. [00:18:16] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:18:17] Speaker C: And that's all part of that, you know, connection as well. [00:18:20] Speaker A: Yeah. Well, it was funny we sort of digressing a little bit, but these three younger people, my job really is younger than me. These three younger people came last week. All three of them were almost anti social media. You know, they don't. Not on Facebook, not this, not that. And they said exactly the same thing. Human connection is so much better than, you know, giving people likes or likes or influences. It's so much better. The, you know, the connection. [00:18:54] Speaker C: Yeah. Not stuck in a dungeon of a bedroom on a game all the time. You know, get out in the sun, the fresh air and. [00:18:59] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:19:00] Speaker C: People. [00:19:00] Speaker A: And I think it's so important, like, you know, like just having a reaction and, you know, because I think they said that so much of our communication is done through body language. We can't do body language really. Over. [00:19:16] Speaker B: Exactly. [00:19:16] Speaker C: And modern life, you know, people working from home, you know, that's the other thing. [00:19:20] Speaker A: Yeah, of course it's. [00:19:21] Speaker C: Yeah. There's a lot of isolation. [00:19:23] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:19:24] Speaker C: There's a lot of loneliness. [00:19:25] Speaker A: There is. You know, and that's another great sub. One great subject. Another is loneliness and being lonely, which I do believe are two separate things. [00:19:34] Speaker B: Yes. [00:19:34] Speaker A: You know, and in this world where there's so much. It's funny, there's so much ways that you communicate, whether it be Facebook or whatever, all these. [00:19:46] Speaker C: You connected all the time. [00:19:48] Speaker A: But there's not a lot of connection. [00:19:50] Speaker B: No, correct. And that. That was part of the real connection of mine. The war was creating everything that promotes mental health. So, you know, the. The walking out in nature, the community contact. The patching of animals. Yeah, sorry. [00:20:14] Speaker C: Movement itself, you know, that. [00:20:16] Speaker B: Exercise. Yeah. And. And also exercising the mind too. You know, we scavenger hunt and. And learning history and things like that. Patting the animals. And we've even got recipe books and things like that so people can see the benefit of healthy eating. And so we've tried to cover everything that incorporates good mental health. [00:20:42] Speaker A: It's so hard, isn't it? Because, you know, we're opioid radio here. We. We focus so much and we see it coming through the doors of mental health. And it is almost a pandemic now of. Of mental health. And I think it's grown unchecked. When I say unchecked, I mean that there's a problem there and you could have maybe helped nip it in the bud. [00:21:15] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. [00:21:16] Speaker A: But nobody did. And now you. You think it's just exploded. [00:21:21] Speaker B: Well, research shows that, you know, changing the way your. Your diet and. And healthier eating. Eating and lifestyle works within six weeks by. By just improving that. Seriously. Whereas antidepressants will take longer than that. [00:21:40] Speaker A: Yeah. And that's again, it's another thing, isn't it? Like, you know, and that's the thing. Like, you know, it's almost like. Andy, I'm not. Because, remember, I'm not saying don't take any Depression. I'm not saying that. What I'm saying is that it's an easier fix to pick up a tablet or something in that than to take the other journey. [00:22:06] Speaker C: Yeah, the lifestyle journey. [00:22:08] Speaker A: The lifestyle journey, yeah. [00:22:10] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:22:10] Speaker A: This is. Yeah, it's a great. It's a great subject, you know, like the whole, you know, I was speaking. I was speaking to somebody this morning and we talked about [00:22:25] Speaker C: perhaps. [00:22:26] Speaker A: I'm just asking for your own opinion. Right. You're talking about mental health. Right. And how damaging it can be. Correct. [00:22:38] Speaker C: 100. [00:22:39] Speaker A: Now, there was a lady and I'm not. I'm just asking an opinion. There was a lady who unfortunately lost her legs. I don't whether you heard that in the news. [00:22:49] Speaker B: Yes, yeah, yeah. [00:22:51] Speaker C: Horrible. [00:22:52] Speaker A: Yeah. She got run over by a. A person who. It doesn't really matter. She was targeted. [00:22:59] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:22:59] Speaker A: And she got run over and she lost both her legs. So it's been on the news. You know, how disgusting. Of course it is. Do you know what I mean? I agree. [00:23:07] Speaker B: Yes. [00:23:08] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:23:08] Speaker A: But I think when I was saying to somebody about a year ago, there were three politicians who allegedly, I'm only using, allegedly ganged up on another politician and this politician, I do believe, committed suicide because of it. Now, that didn't get as much emphasis as the physical one. [00:23:29] Speaker C: It's media, though. That's a media, you know. [00:23:31] Speaker A: It is, isn't it? [00:23:32] Speaker C: Yeah. It's not as shocking as someone getting there. [00:23:36] Speaker A: Exactly. Right. [00:23:37] Speaker C: Yeah. But it's more prevalent, you know, I don't know. And mental health, if it goes unchecked and some people have issues, it turns into physical issues. So it does all of this, you know, this cancer and sickness and that people have got, you know, it can stem from mental health issues that have been left unchecked because people don't know any better. Just think it's normal. Just think, that's fine, I'll get on with it, don't worry about it, you know, don't want to ask for help, don't know where to go. So, yeah, it's full circle. It's. It's all part of, you know, the reason why we need to talk to one another, get out side, connect with each other and, you know, talk, really speak. What do they say? It's not weak to speak, you know, and, and particularly with men. Like, we've got, I think, black dog ride. That's a men's mental health thing. [00:24:25] Speaker A: And we've got. [00:24:26] Speaker C: Yeah. You know, but I think raising that awareness and getting rid of that stigma and, you know, this Event. We're going to have people at stalls from Headspace. They're going to be sitting there with an activity. You can go up and talk to them and, you know, maybe just, you know, people might be embarrassed or don't want to, you know, make the phone call. They'll be there on this day, come down, have a walk, walk past and have a quick chat and, you know, investigate. [00:24:48] Speaker A: Yeah, it only takes sometimes. It's just that. It's like a lot of things in life is just that initial thing. Once. If people can just do that initial thing, it opens up a whole new world, you know, And I think being here at this radio station and interviewing a lot of people, you understand a lot more, which is great. And there was a bloke who came in and he was talking about homelessness, Right. And it was a bloke in America. And he sat in the same spot every day. And, you know, everybody, not everybody, but people would put money in his thing, which he appreciated. But they said, tomorrow, you must appreciate, you know, people giving to you. He goes, yes. He said, but the biggest thrill I get is there's a bloke who walks past and he knows my name and says, good morning, Paul. Every day he said, that meant more to me than the money. [00:25:52] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:25:53] Speaker A: And that's just simple. What is it? Just. I'm not. What. It's obviously just remember somebody's name and saying, oh, hi, Paul, how are you? [00:26:00] Speaker B: Yeah, it's recognizing your existence that's. [00:26:03] Speaker A: That's a point, isn't it? You know, and it's not difficult. And it. You know, even on the most basic thing, guys like, you know, if you can. If you go to even something as simple as a Woolies or Coles or wherever, and you just chat to the checkout person and make a comment. It's amazing. Sometimes they just open up, you know, like, oh, what do you want to do on the rest of the day? And they go, oh, well, I've got this. Oh, you've got a family. Oh, and they just away for that simple thing of just making a little bit of a connection. [00:26:35] Speaker C: Simple kindness, simple connection. You never know what someone's going through. And that. That kind little gesture might make their day and might change something massive. You just don't know. [00:26:44] Speaker A: You don't, do you? And you don't know what people are going through. [00:26:47] Speaker C: You don't know. [00:26:48] Speaker A: That's the other thing, you know, if they're a bit snarly, you know, some musical whatever. [00:26:52] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:26:53] Speaker A: But they might have had a terrible, terrible morning. [00:26:55] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:26:56] Speaker B: You know, and that's what we're proud of with Mind the Walk, because last year we had three people present with mental health issues and we were able to assist them with, you know, where to go and seek further help. [00:27:12] Speaker A: That's great. [00:27:13] Speaker B: You know, so if it did nothing else. [00:27:15] Speaker C: Yeah, but 100. [00:27:18] Speaker A: Yeah, but you did, you know, like, that's it, isn't it? If you. If you've helped one person, you know, if you better strip. But as long as you. You come over like. Well, you know, Joe blogs over here came with a bit of an issue. And Joe Bloggs is on the, you know, going down the right track now. It's almost all your. I'm just asking if. So your whole year's work of planning. [00:27:42] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, you think. [00:27:43] Speaker A: Well, it's had a. A great result. [00:27:46] Speaker C: Yeah. It's incentive and inspiration to keep going, isn't it? [00:27:49] Speaker B: Exactly, I think it is. [00:27:50] Speaker A: I think it is. Because you need that. You need. No matter. You need a few wins. Don'. I know it sounds a bit crass, but you're doing a few wins to sometimes keep the momentum going. [00:28:01] Speaker B: That's right. And I've just remembered, they've only just come on board, so Lucala hadn't got them on the list, but health shacks coming down as well. And they do, you know, massaging, chiropractory, and so they'll have all the information on health, how to help you physically as well. And Sally Gregor will be there and she does kinesiology, so she'll be giving further. [00:28:26] Speaker A: Wow. [00:28:26] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:28:27] Speaker C: So we've got growing and growing. [00:28:28] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, no, it is great. And it's, you know, thank you guys so much. Obviously you'll be there in a day. [00:28:37] Speaker B: Yes. [00:28:37] Speaker A: Okay. What whereabouts will you guys be? As in specifically? Will you. [00:28:43] Speaker C: There'll be a registration desk, you know, close to the entrance of the village green. So people will be able to find us and they can come and get all their information from us. [00:28:52] Speaker A: Oh, that's great. Yeah, yeah, because then people can know where everything is. And we. I'm just asking, we. Were you having a little. Or we have a little. Not a map, a guide. [00:29:02] Speaker B: We've got a little booklet that we've created over the years on the history of Rockingham and various information and. [00:29:10] Speaker A: Oh, really? [00:29:11] Speaker B: Yes. So we'll have that available and. [00:29:15] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:29:16] Speaker B: And obviously the scavenger hunt, which will probably do an online questionnaire because everyone's got their phones and they can do the scavenger hunt answers and things. So. [00:29:26] Speaker A: So, guys, as we wrap up Ken, it's so important for us to know how to find out about this event. So Facebook. [00:29:37] Speaker C: Yep. [00:29:38] Speaker B: Yes. [00:29:39] Speaker A: What is the Facebook page or pages that we can go to? [00:29:44] Speaker B: Mind the Walk. A guided history. [00:29:47] Speaker A: Is that Mind the Water? So if we talk in. Mind the walk. [00:29:52] Speaker B: Yes. [00:29:52] Speaker A: Yeah. Google. [00:29:54] Speaker B: Yes. [00:29:55] Speaker A: It'll come up. Will it? [00:29:56] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, that's it there. [00:29:59] Speaker A: Oh, okay. Lovely. [00:30:02] Speaker C: Yeah. There's heaps of information on there. There's information about the sponsors. We've been very lucky to have heaps of sponsors. [00:30:07] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:30:08] Speaker C: And there's information about the walks. There's a link to a booking link to a site where you can book in a time slot. But like Davina said, you don't have to book in, you can just come down and, you know, and enjoy the festival. You don't necessarily have to do a walk. And there's the cycling without age. So if. If you think, oh, I can't do it, I can't walk 2km. We've got you covered as well. [00:30:28] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:30:28] Speaker A: Oh, this is. This is great. Yeah. [00:30:31] Speaker B: And for those that will want to do things, we've also got a chocolate wheel, so you can get the raffle tickets for that and. Yeah, get some great prizes. [00:30:41] Speaker C: Yeah, We've had a lot of local businesses support us with prizes. Yeah. [00:30:45] Speaker A: That's good, isn't it? I mean, you know, in these times, and that's these tough times to go to small businesses and small businesses, you're doing it tough for them to be. Be prepared to. [00:30:59] Speaker C: Oh, they are, yeah. And it is. The small businesses, you know, do it. It's. Yeah, it's. [00:31:05] Speaker A: Yeah, it's another buckwhere one I always try and support small businesses in and give them a sh. That too. [00:31:12] Speaker C: That's correct. [00:31:13] Speaker A: So which free plug, anyway? But there's a new bakery in Port Kennedy called Oven. [00:31:20] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:31:21] Speaker A: Have you been there? [00:31:21] Speaker C: Yeah. They're good people. [00:31:22] Speaker A: Yeah, they're lovely people. I went there first time yesterday and they were so, you know, kind and considerate. And then he said, oh, by the way, the source is free. [00:31:32] Speaker C: So that's it. I mean, lovely family business saying it. [00:31:37] Speaker A: But look, they're a small business. Their stuff looks good and that's, you know, it's easy to go to XYZ and get them from a huge corporate bakery. But I think, you know, if you've got the money and you've got a little bit extra, you can go to these places and you're supporting them and they, in turn support here. So, like you say, it's a big, big circle. [00:32:04] Speaker C: Isn't it Circle. Yeah. [00:32:05] Speaker A: Is there anything more you guys would like to bring to the table? And we just. [00:32:11] Speaker C: Should I just mention some of the sponsors that have. [00:32:14] Speaker A: No, you can't. No, no, of course you can. [00:32:17] Speaker B: Of course you can. [00:32:17] Speaker C: Obviously Australia Post was the biggest one and they've made it, you know, the tickets free. So usually the tickets are about 20 last year. [00:32:24] Speaker B: That's correct. Yeah. [00:32:25] Speaker C: But they've. They've covered the cost of all of the tickets, so that's really big on Steve. Rockingham have given us some sponsorship along with the Rockingham Rotary Club, the Palm Beach Rotary Club and. And Bell Divers with their time as well. Ritz Party Hire. Oh, Kingsley Claw with the photography and videography. We've had impressions. Catering, feeding the volunteers, Palm Beach Wellness and Beach side Yoga and Pilates and Lulu's Cafe have all given us donations for prizes. [00:32:56] Speaker B: Wow. [00:32:57] Speaker C: We've got the Community Boot Camp with Sam Parmentan. [00:33:01] Speaker B: Yeah. And then the yoga with Maria Grimes at Panita Yoga. [00:33:06] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. And then the. The Hornets. Rocky Hornets Cricket Club. Simply Swing doing the dance. Yep. [00:33:12] Speaker B: And the Rockingham Hornets, they're. They're actually doing little trials for. For kids, so to see if they like the cricket. So if they do, then they're. They are able to join up. [00:33:22] Speaker A: Geez. [00:33:23] Speaker C: And there's more, but, you know. [00:33:25] Speaker A: Well, that's great. You can name more if you like. [00:33:28] Speaker C: Next week. [00:33:28] Speaker A: Next week. Okay. So if they joined, sort of be prepared. So with the Hornets, I reckon it's got a bit of a buzz about it. Okay, guys, well, look, thank you for sharing this information. It, as I said to you when you came in, is it's so good that we get people coming in so that we know that we can, you know, put the messages out there, you know, because I say, like the festival last week I wanted to go to, didn't even know it was on. So now I know this is on, you know, and you guys are being involved, so. Yeah, you will be. So thanks again, guys, for coming in. It's been great. So it's Mind the Walk. If you type that in, it'll come up a website. And can they follow. [00:34:22] Speaker B: It's not a website, but it'll be a website page. [00:34:26] Speaker A: And can they follow that or not? [00:34:27] Speaker B: Yes. Yes. [00:34:29] Speaker A: And that. Because you guys go all year round, do you or not? [00:34:33] Speaker B: We. We have the one event each year, but we. We give out information over the year on that Facebook page, you know, relating to mental health or, you know, what's happening. [00:34:44] Speaker A: Yeah, that's the thing, isn't it like you. I'm just asking. So sometimes you go onto Rockingham website, the. The council on Watson and Rockingham and I don't think sometimes there's all the information there. [00:34:55] Speaker C: No, no, no. [00:34:57] Speaker A: It's almost like if you guys and other groups like narrative, whatever it was that festival, you think if we had a central point where we could just go into thing and it would actually have. This is happening, that's happening. This is. But I think sometimes there's gaps. [00:35:15] Speaker C: Yeah, we've got. The access to information is insane out there. So there's so many places. But if you're listening and you want to go on the Facebook page, share it to your community groups, share it on your own Facebook page. You know, the idea is to get it out there for people who may need benefit from it and who want to, you know, it's more than just a walk. It's about connecting with ourselves, others, connecting with the community and with nature. So please share. [00:35:37] Speaker A: Okay, guys, thanks for coming in and I'll play a track. And again, thanks for coming in. And you may be coming in to say next week? Next week. Okay, I'll look forward to it. [00:35:50] Speaker C: Thank you so much.
